Sorry about the missing posts...Tennis and Project

Wednesday:

We practiced and completed our final song.

Thursday:

We did research on all of the prices of CD's and CD cases as well as CD stickers (for the design) as well as approving our album art with Mr Komocki.

Friday:

Charlie at States for tennis...nothing was really doable.

Saturday:

Being optimistic we had hoped Charlie would still be at states so we planned on nothing.
BUT we did come up with a blues song that we would let Mr Farmer play lead guitar over as a kind of gift to him.

Sunday: We are going to record now

Song 3 recorded

So we recorded our third song yesterday.  It is a funk song and we are happy with how it came out.

This week we are preparing all the supplies we need for making CD's and we are also recording one final song next weekend.  Practice..practice..practice.

Practice and Music Sites

We practiced some more for our two song recording session on Sunday. I think we are ready.

I also took the initiative and made band sites on BandCamp.com as well as MySpace.com.

anarchisthippiecounterculture.bandcamp.com

myspace.com/ahcc

They are currently empty, but once we have our music this will be the best way to get it out there.

Today The Design For The Album Cover Was Done

So, in order to come up with an album cover we first decided what we wanted depicted upon the cover.  It needs to be something with meaning, whether the actual item is important or if what it represents is important.  We figured it would be best to pick a person who personifies a message we would like to also spread.  Through some wikipedia-ing we stumbled across Tim Berners-Lee, who is credited for inventing the Internet.  Now first off, we are very thankful for the internet because it gives us access to music and this blog and other cool stuff, but also the idea and concept Berners-Lee represents.  He represents the creation of a revolution.  The Internet has changed the world, and to the very highest level, changing the world is a goal we possess.  Our selected band name is "Anarchist Hippie Counterculture" and the album title "More Than YOu Bargained For" comes from looking at this picture of Berners-Lee, and we thought "there is no way he knew what he had just done", hence the album name.  The actual art was done on Picnik and it is a picture of Tim Berners-Lee

Saturday and Sunday May 15th and 16th

On Saturday, like Friday, we finished working out our original song "Inamorata". We played several times until it ran smoothly and we could do it together easily.

On Sunday we went to Mr Farmer's house and we recorded it. Being more prepared than the week before it took half the time and the final product came out wonderfully.

Mr. Farmer is going to do some basic mixing and send us copies of our cover of "Train In Vain" as well as "Inamorata" which I will attempt to post to the blog.

Thursday May 13th

During the day today Charlie has his sectional tennis tournament (he made it to the semifinals which qualifies him for districts...woo!) and so during the day no practice was possible, but in the later hours the trio gathered to run the full original piece "Inamorata" which ran smoothly and successfully, which will be recorded this upcoming Sunday.

Tuesday May 11th and Wednesday May 12th

We are hashing out the form to the original song we will be recording this weekend. With after school activities it hasn't been possible to get all three of us together this week so we are working to make sure that when we are able to get together, on Thursday and Saturday, that we will have the form of the song ready to go and we will just be able to practice until it is perfect.

Monday May 10th

So the first weekend just wrapped up. We successfully recorded a cover of "Train In Vain (Stand By Me" originally done by The Clash. We stayed true to the form of the original song, but we did expand by altering the guitar strumming, adding more percussion as well as adding back-up vocals at times. It took about 4-5 hours to do, which Mr. Farmer seemed to feel was very quick to do one song, especially since we had never done it before. But this also leads to an adjustment of our goals: doing three songs in one weekend is probably too much, and we should set our goal to be one song per weekend.

So today we began practicing next weekends song, an original which we played for Mr. Farmer (in an abbreviated manner, and he compared it to an old Kings of Leon song). So we are practicing that and that is pretty much our entire day.

For Friday May 7th

We recorded demos for our originals.  I couldn't figure out how to post them on the blog and I took so long that I had to rush out for my tennis match.  But yes, today SATURDAY, we are headed to Mr Farmers to record our first few pieces.

END OF THURSDAY MAY 6th

Thursday has just ended at the Ford household.  The band (still currently not named) ran through a cover of the song "Train In Vain (Stand By Me)" by The Clash as well as an original piece titled "Inamorata" (which means female lover in Italian...the song is about a girl...if you were wondering).  We were stopped before we could run through our completed piece "Come With Me" by Dylan's house sitter for being loud. (In case that sentence was ambiguous, the song is by us and we were stopped by the house sitter)  Tomorrow we will record all three tracks in demo form (including acoustic guitar, bass, vocals, and if possible tomorrow night drums when Dylan is available).

We also made this blog today while we put together the forms of the three songs we are recording this weekend.  We will post our demo tracks on the blog tomorrow so that you can listen and see how productive we are being.

G'night

We are now running all the songs we will be recording this weekend

By the way..the times on the posts are about 4 hours slow.. I don't know why

Tonight We Will Run These Songs

I have a tennis match right now at Shaker (this is Charlie), so I am going to that, and then tonight we are going to run all the songs and even record them all if we are feeling really good.  We are using our recording equipment in order to get ourselves ready to use Mr. Farmers.

Thursday, May 6th

So far today Gavin and I (Charlie) have made the forms for the three songs we will be recording on Saturday. I will post pictures of them as soon as we figure out how to do so, since we have no camera.
